RESIDENTIAL BUILDING IN ZENGROVA ST., PRAGUE

Villa Zengrova contains 13 apartments of conveniently varied standard, technical rooms, cellars and a valuable parking area in the basement. The buildings volume offers a reasonable extent of population density in a residential neighbourhood of Hanspaulka, taking into consideration a current offer of services and the districts distinct character. The house, despite its non-extravagant and unobtrusive character, offers a luxurious high standard living. The volume was composed as a crystal locked into surrounding silt geological formations at the end of sports facility Kotlářka. Materiality maintains a tradition of architecture with red brick façades which can be found around on various buildings, both old and new. The form of the design is based on modern functionalist architecture and some details of the design (sunshades, large windows, formerly metal balconies, railings) deliberately reference this era. The project has been later altered by the developer into a state that doesn’t entirely follow the author’s design.
