We propose the new Montessori school in Hlučín as an environment for a carefully built system of teaching children at the primary level. The building is a low-rise pavilion labyrinth, a research laboratory, awakening an interest in knowledge and providing different corners with sequences of impulse to observe and explore different subjects, topics, activities and questions. The layout of the school is also prepared for all the related social interactions including whole school meetings, shared meals, performances or contact with parents and other visitors. The environment is designed as a natural classroom on a permaculture basis, and also on the principle of a creative and never-finished garden. The interface between indoors and outdoors is blurred. We want the children to become themselves in the new school and find their way to themselves, to knowledge, order and nature.
