Our goal is to create an institution that will become a driver of cultural life in České Budějovice. Slavia is a bearer of great social potential. We keep the original image of the house, fixed for generations in the minds of the residents of the city. We transform the interior into its current position and supplement the exterior with a new volume of the hall, drawing from the architecture of the original design by Vojtěch Ignác Ullmann. Thanks to that we achieve contextuality and comprehensibility of the chosen architectural solution, which does not rely on contrasting and self-referential new shapes. We create a live place, connected on all sides with the city, a melting pot of cultural life, versatile institutions for all residents of the city. The house has an imaginary two poles, presented on one side by the Great Hall, serving as an example for organizing balls, conferences, business parties and concerts (amplified and non-amplified), representative and cultural elements with a wide social impact. At the other pole is the Small Hall, connected to a city cafe, where we expect an alternative and progressive program. The small hall therefor provides a background for a dynamic cultural scene, permanently rooted in the structure and awareness of the city. Our design is exhibited so that in can become one of the key projects of České Budějovice candidacy for the European Capital of Culture 2028.
